“A gripping blend of mystery and the supernatural, Secrets will keep readers hooked as Brianna Morgan walks a razor-thin line between duty and danger—armed with a family secret that could save lives or destroy her own.” NewInBooks.com
Brianna begins her career as a police stenographer assigned to the Homicide Squad in the Atlanta Police Department in the late 1980s.. This story of growth and adventure follows the heroine as she learns to accept and live with the gift entrusted to her by the previous generations. She consistently demonstrates initiative as she pursues her quest to make a difference in the events she has foreseen. Her reputation for trouble grows daily as she creates commotion in the detective bureau and can’t explain her actions. The two detectives to whom she is assigned find their hands full and their patience often stretched.
At seven Brianna’s foreknowledge is terrifying; at seventeen, it is embarrassing; at twenty-one, it’s critical for it to become an indispensable partner or it could destroy her. This gripping story will keep you turning the pages as you follow Brianna, her father and the two detectives through their unfolding adventures.
Linda writes to free the stories that tumble around in her head and clamor to be heard. Linda started her career in the Atlanta Police Department and maintained a connection to the law enforcement community throughout her career in human resources management and academia. Her recent move to the North Carolina mountains has provided the opportunity for her stories to make their way to the written page. She is a devoted coffee drinker, traveler, gardener and needle artist. Linda has served as Assistant Editor to The Urlar, an international quarterly publication of the Scottish Clan MacPherson, authored a cookbook, researched and authored a genealogical study for a private family.
Reviews
As an author and publisher who has been in the business for 20+ years, I have to say Secrets by L.E. Ryan is one of the most engaging books I have had the honor to read. While formatting the book for publication, I almost forgot to edit and do my job, the book just drew me into it. The story drew me in from the first page. The main character’s struggle to accept her ability feels real. Her constant soul searching and questions kept me engaged from the jump. Her need to keep this gift secret because of the past experiences her mother had was heart breaking. However, the journey to acceptance and understanding kept the pages turning. If I could give this book 20 stars I would. What a great job.Yvonne Mason, Author and Publisher, Midnight Publishing
Ms. Ryan’s book ‘Secrets’ was thoroughly enjoyable, a real page turner that held my attention to the end. For me, it was somewhat reminiscent of growing up in Atlanta, Georgia and coming of age in the 70s and 80s in the city dubbed HotLanta, the place everybody wanted to be! It was a fascinating story and I had to keep reminding myself that it was strictly fiction. The fictional Brianna is an intelligent young woman that tried to play by the rules (for the most part) in what most would say was a ‘man’s’ world. It was young women like the heroine in this book that blazed the way for younger women to have easier access and be able to fulfill their dreams and desires. Pay attention, there are oh so subtle hints leading toward the surprise ending. I’ll go no further than that lest I let the proverbial cat out of the bag. Read the book, I assure you it is an enjoyable and fun read.B. Trawick, Sylva, North Carolina
