5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book for Beginner Gardeners!

This is by far one of the best “how to” books on gardening I have read! And I’ve read a few! It is great for beginner gardeners, or anyone wishing to learn how to grow more organically! I’m a fairly new gardener (only started vegetable and herb gardens over the last 3 years), and I am always learning something new! This past year’s growing season for me was a bad one, mostly due to wildlife eating my crops! This book not only gave me some great tips on composting (which is something else I am starting to do), but also how to naturally and effectively deter the animals that have been getting into my garden, as well as deter and/or kill pests that I’ve seen in my garden! I would highly recommend anyone new to gardening buy this book! It is extremely helpful and very detailed, as well as gives you loads of tips and suggestions on how to do a variety of things to help your garden be more organic and thrive better!

This book is exactly what the book-description says it is: it contains 101 tips on organic gardening. There are a lot of tips on how to get a furtile soil and on what plants (or herbs and vegables) you can plant together so that they can ‘help’ eachother, tips on weed control, how to pick the right size of fruittree, preserving herbs by drying. There are even tips on growing multiple plants in a single container and on indoor gardening.

This book has nice big letters, I didn’t find any typos, there are no pictures in this book (but they aren’t really necessary, so no problem). There is an active table of contents. This book is suitable for people with little experience in gardening. This book can also be usefull if you don’t want to be a 100% organic gardener, but are just looking for some tips on growing vegetables, fruits or flowers.

101 Organic Gardening Tips was packed full of interesting and useful information. I especially appreciated the section on companion planting. The chapters on compost were also useful. I’ve been composting for over a year but still managed to learn something new from Sheri Ann Richerson’s book.
