Michael T Worden

Mike Worden was born in 1946, the first of eight children, all who were brought up in the Catholic faith. He performed every function a layman is permitted to do in the church. He was born and raised in the low country of South Carolina. After Bootcamp on Parris Island and Radio Telegraph school in San Diego, he spent a year fighting in Vietnam, and two more on a Marine Corps Base in North Carolina as a paratrooper and Navy certified S.C.U.B.A. diver with 2nd Force Recon. He was honorably discharged as a Seargent E-5. He and his wife, Linda then raised four children 20 miles northwest of Savannah, Georgia. He worked at GAF Corporation for the first ten years after his Marine Corps enlistment, where asphalt roofing shingles were made. Then, for the next 34 years, he worked in the Purchasing Department of Gulfstream Aerospace, where Corporate Business Jets were manufactured.  Four years after the death of his wife, Linda, he married Trudie DeLoach, a widow with whom he had attended high school 55 years earlier. They now reside in Cummings, S.C. where they both live their best life as retirees, traveling as frequently as they can. His only complaint, he said, “We used to attend weddings, and now we are outliving all of our friends and we attend funerals.”
