This morning, I recieved and email from one of my authors. A.L. Nightshade. She has several books with us- from poetry to steampunk. Well, anyway she has arrived in the world of indie authors. She has been getting ugly emails from scammers who leave a do not reply as their email address. Along with the name Anomynous. Now who names their child that? I would venture it would be someone who is ashamed of said child. But I digress. After the first one she made a police report so it would be on file and yes she keeps the evidence. This morning the two she received was so funny it was pitiful. Apparently who ever sent the two emails does not have an advance vocabulary and does own a dictonary. Maybe they should. In this world of technology when a bigger mouse trap is built the uglies build a bigger mouse. In this case a more stupid one. These folks use threats, intimidation and any other means to scam folks. They truely believe we are stupid or naive. Sadly some young indie authors are not savy to the wiles of these scammers. I have instructed all of my new authors to send me any emails they get that are not true. This one though takes the cake and the plate. First, the name Anomynous. Next a noreplyaddy. – Seriously, even a no reply has an IP address, yes it can be traced. Next the wording, lovely language. For a two year old throwing a tantrum.
If you are a writer and looking to publish this is what to expect in our world. It is sad by true. You have to have a very thick skin, a knowledge of stupid, and understand that these things are not real. Even though the apprear real. Which is the definition of FEAR- False Evidence that Appears Real. These folks can not hurt you. They are cowards, and bullies. Do not fall into their scam.
Here is my sage advice after being in this business for to many years to count. Don’t fall for anything. If it looks to good to be true it is. And when you get stuff like this, file a police report and keep the evidence.

If you will notice the email came form an email form off A.L. ‘s website. I really want to know who Dennis Black is. Maybe the dark web who knows. I protect my authors from things like this. I never want to see an author be scammed. There is to much at stake. I know all authors want to be out there, to be known, to be able to sell their craft. However, I will not allow them to be hurt. Some of them have been hurt to much in life already.

Remember ugly is out there. Criminals roam free in the the wilderness of technology to see who they can threaten, intimidate and bully. Don’t fall victim to their antics, to their two year old tantrums. Stay alert, stay vigilant and file police reports when the emails look like this or worse.
Oh and by the way, they just helped A.L. Nightshade in a good way and didn’t even plan to. She now has free publicity because of their stupidity. Thank you scammers !!!!
